Ganpat Rebari, a 14-year-old pupil from the Govt. High School in Bhensda Kala was inspired to build a toilet by various Swachh Bharat activities held in his school and village of Peepli dhani. Ganpat’s father died 3 years ago and he lives alone with his mother. He was motivated by the local activity from the Swachh Bharat programme and decided that he wanted to dig a soak pit and construct a toilet for his mother and himself. Ganpat said, “I will not allow my family to defecate in open, due to OD many diseases spread and I want to be part of SBM in my own way by constructing a toilet for my family.”
The Sarpanch, Up-Sarpanch, Secretary, and Patwari of the Bhensda Kala gram panchayat and the team from Wells for India’s partner, HVVS, met with Ganpat to support and plan the construction of the toilet and even though his mother was initially unsure about it she was encouraged, happy and proud that her only son had taken this initiative. The toilet is now ready for use and will make a real difference to their lives.
